Kami Nixon
Kami Nixon is a classically trained flute player who picked up a guitar
and jumped into rock 'n' roll. She's a former journalist who now
documents through songs her life as a single mom coming of age.
"I've been taking private guitar lessons with Bill Spooner since the spring of 2002. I also took three
Band Workshops with him. One I played the flute in, one I signed up to
play flute and then took over female lead voice (in addition to playing)
when the other dropped out, and for the third I took an intermediate workshop
as the lead vocalist. I learned performance technique and rock band
structure and gained valuable experience by performing in clubs.
"Through my lessons with him and my recording in his studio,
Bill and his wife Anna have become mentors and friends. Anna helps
with my marketing. Bill helps me with arrangement of the songs
I write and gives me valuable and practical advice about songwriting
and making a career in music.
"Overall, I find the classes and the sense of community at Blue
Bear to be extremely valuable and a wonderful part of my life. I'm
so glad that you are doing this work."
