Blue Bear's nonprofit mission!
For 43 years, Blue Bear has been the place to go in the Bay Area for quality music instruction. Much of that has to do with our amazing team of instructors.
On Friday, April 25th, we'll be showcasing both sides of that great music instruction in the first of an ongoing series of events promoting our incredible students and the people that help them reach those levels.
The Blue Bear All Star Band program is led by Ryan Hickey and James Thomas (aka JT), and those students will be opening the show in three smaller bands, as well as one larger "big tent" group. Their last performance at our holiday show at The Chapel was amazing as the large group tackled Pink Floyd's legendary rock opus The Wall. We look forward to seeing what they'll bring this time around.
For the teachers' bands, for the first of the series we have FatCat, featuring Blue Bear instructors Ryan Hickey and Mark Schuh. Expect a funky fun time from this blend of New Orleans funk, SF jam and all-around classic rock.
In the middle slot, we have Pamela Parker, who's ultra-tight band of professionals (including the afore-mentioned Ryan Hickey on keys) bring the rock like no other.
Closing out the night in the headlining position, we have the Sean Leahy Band. Led by Blue Bear instructor Sean Leahy, this power trio will roll you through all things rock. Always a killer performer, Sean and his band keep one foot in the classic past and the other on the pulse of right now.
