Private Lessons

Private lessons may be started anytime. Call 415.673.3600 and schedule a 15 to 20-minute interview, request an interview time by email or fill out an online application to get the ball rolling.

At the interview, we will:

• Explore your musical interests and goals.
• Discuss the best teachers for you.
• Discuss your scheduling needs. (Afternoon and Saturday times are almost always available. You might need to be on a wait list for evening times.)

The interview is not an audition, so you don't need to bring your instrument, and there is no obligation.

To enroll and officially schedule your first lesson, you'll need to either prepay for a single lesson or pay the $35 Annual Membership fee.

Lessons take place at Blue Bear in Fort Mason Center, with the exception of drum lessons which take place at our drum teacher's studio located near City College.

Group Classes

Group classes begin every three months. Enrollment periods for group classes are:

Winter Quarter 2008 enrollment: December 3 - January 17 (classes begin January 14)
Spring Quarter 2008 enrollment: March 17 - April 10 (classes begin April 7)
Summer Quarter 2008 enrollment: June 7 - July 3 (classes begin June 30)
Fall Quarter 2008 enrollment: September 2 - October 2 (classes begin September 29)

At the interview, you will:

• Get more information about Blue Bear programs.
• Get placed in the appropriate level class.

The interview is not an audition, so you don't need to bring your instrument, and there is no obligation.

To enroll:

• Pay the $35 Annual Membership fee or $60 Family Membership fee.
• Pay in full to reserve your spot in group courses.

Please note:

• Your Membership fee plus a deposit of $20 or $30 for most classes are not refundable or transferable once you sign up for a class.
• We prefer payment by check, debit card or cash. VISA and MasterCard also accepted.
• Your Membership fee plus 15% of tuition are not refundable once you sign up for a class.

Class sizes are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. We cannot hold a spot for any new student who has not paid their annual Membership fee. There is often a wait to get into a Band Workshop for vocalists and guitarists. To be on the Band Workshop wait list, you must be a current or past Blue Bear student (or have paid the annual Membership fee).
