Blue Bear is very pleased to introduce our new Master Artist Series - a combination of performance, technique discussion, personal stories and audience Q&A that give you an opportunity to interact with well established musicians in a unique and intimate setting. Our Master Artist Series is both instruction and entertainment, for both musicians and fans!
Program 3 in our exciting new Master Artist Series features guitar virtuoso Greg Howe. Greg started playing the guitar at the age of 10, and by his late teens was already playing in clubs, eventually performing a repertoire of mostly cover tunes with his rock band for audiences throughout the northeast U.S.
In 1988 Greg was invited to record an album by guitar impresario Mike Varney on Varney's Shrapnel Records label. That album, simply entitled Greg Howe, featured David Lee Roth's then-bassist Billy Sheehan and renowned drummer Atma Anur, and was named #10 in the top shred albums of all time by Guitar World Magazine. With his next few releases, Greg forayed into a mosaic of fusion, rock, funk, blues and jazz, making bolder strides into fusion music.
Along the way he established himself as a valuable sideman for pop superstars, performing on Michael Jackson's 1996 "History" tour throughout Europe and Asia, a European tour with pop star Enrique Iglesias, and two separate stateside tours in 2001 and 2002 as the lead guitarist for NSYNC. In 2003 Greg did a promotional tour with Justin Timberlake, and reunited with him in 2009 to perform at the 51st GRAMMY Awards. Greg's latest album is Sound Proof, and he is currently in production for a vocal album to be released in early 2010.
